Step 1: Open File Explorer

To begin, open File Explorer by clicking on the folder icon located in the taskbar or by pressing the Windows key + E on your keyboard.

Step 2: Access the View Tab

Once File Explorer is open, click on the “View” tab at the top of the window. This tab contains various options for customizing the appearance and functionality of File Explorer.

Step 3: Click on “Options

In the View tab, you will find an “Options” button on the right side of the toolbar. Click on it to open the Folder Options dialog box.

Step 4: Go to the “View” Tab

Within the Folder Options dialog box, click on the “View” tab. This tab contains various settings for file and folder display options.

Step 5: Uncheck “Show Recently Used Files in Quick Access

In the “View” tab, scroll down until you find the option “Show recently used files in Quick Access.” Uncheck this box to remove recent files from the Quick Access section of File Explorer.

After unchecking the box, click on the “Apply” button to save the changes. Then, click “OK” to close the Folder Options dialog box.

Step 7: Remove Recent Files from the Jump List

If you have recently opened files from the Jump List, you may still see them listed. To remove these files, right-click on the Windows logo in the taskbar and select “Task Manager.” In the Task Manager, go to the “Details” tab and find the “Recent” section. Right-click on each file and select “End Task” to remove them from the Jump List.
