How to Remove Recent from Google Drive

Google Drive is a powerful cloud storage service that allows users to store, share, and access their files from anywhere. However, the “Recent” section in Google Drive can sometimes clutter your interface and make it difficult to find the files you need. If you’re looking to remove the Recent section from Google Drive, here’s a step-by-step guide to help you out.

Step 1: Open Google Drive

The first step is to open Google Drive on your computer. You can do this by visiting drive.google.com or by clicking the Google Drive icon in your web browser’s bookmarks bar.

Step 2: Access the Settings Menu

Once you’re in Google Drive, click on the gear icon located in the upper-right corner of the screen. This will open the Settings menu.

Step 3: Go to the General Tab

In the Settings menu, you’ll see several tabs at the top. Click on the “General” tab to access the general settings for your Google Drive account.

Step 4: Disable the Recent Section

In the General tab, scroll down until you find the “Show recent files” option. This option is enabled by default, which means the Recent section is visible in your Google Drive interface. To remove the Recent section, simply click the toggle switch next to “Show recent files” to disable it.

Step 5: Save Changes

After disabling the Recent section, click the “Save” button at the bottom of the Settings menu to apply the changes. The Recent section should now be removed from your Google Drive interface.

Alternative Method: Use Keyboard Shortcuts

If you prefer using keyboard shortcuts, you can also remove the Recent section from Google Drive. Here’s how:

1. Open Google Drive on your computer.
2. Press the “Ctrl + Shift + J” (Windows) or “Cmd + Shift + J” (Mac) keyboard shortcut to open the Developer Tools menu.
3. In the Developer Tools menu, type “document.getElementById(‘recent-files’).style.display=’none’;” and press Enter.
4. The Recent section should now be hidden from your Google Drive interface.

By following these steps, you can easily remove the Recent section from Google Drive and have a cleaner, more organized interface.
